Episode 55 - Glory Days of Gold (99 Problems But A Fish Ain't One)
Sunday Aug 29, 2021
Sunday Aug 29, 2021
Welcome to Episode 55 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast.
Lee, Doug, and James are back to pick over the bones of East Fife's important 3-0 win over Peterhead. A poor first half performance was soon forgotten as the Bayview Boys turned on the style. The guys look at the high points, the low points, and ponder whether the team has finally turned the corner this season or whether the weaker opposition and riding their luck doesn't really tell the full story of what's ahead.
Plus they look ahead to next week's cup tie, delve into the mailbag with some listener's questions, and chat about some of the funnier aspects from football this past week.
Come for the football chat, stay for the nautical puns!

Monday Aug 23, 2021
Welcome to Episode 54 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
Lee, Michael, Doug, and Gordon are back to pick over the bones of East Fife's latest loss, a 2-0 home defeat to table topping Montrose. After a promising start, heads went down when the team went one behind, and they went out with a whimper.
We look at the highs and lows, discuss the lack of fight and leadership in the team, and ponder the future of Darren Young. Can he turn the team around? Does he need an influx of players? Is either of those possible? We chat about all of that and more, and look ahead to a massive match next week at home to Peterhead.

Sunday Aug 15, 2021
Welcome to Episode 53 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast record across two continents.
Lee, Michael, Doug, and Scott are back to pick over the bones of East Fife's latest loss, a heavy 5-2 shellacking at Cove Rangers. Just how bad was it? Did anyone come away from the game with pass marks? Where do the team go from here and when does the panic button get pressed?
We chat about all of that plus try and a find a solution to getting torn apart on both wings and to get us some much needed midfield presence. But it's not all doom and gloom (just mostly!) as we look back at the midweek cup win against St Johnstone B and two new additions to the East Fife squad that can't come into the team quick enough going on the last performance.
We also take a look around some of the funnier aspects of football from the past week and our Wavelength section returns with a song from Irish band My Brother Woody that will pretty much sum up the mood among the Fife fanbase right now.

Welcome to Episode 52 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast.
East Fife are still looking for their first win of the season after a 3-1 loss at Alloa Athletic on Saturday, but they can take a lot of positives from the performance and there's definitely stuff to build on for the long season ahead.
Lee and Gordon are joined by James Smailes this week to chat about all the highlights and lowpoints from the match, the high ticket price to not only attend but to watch the stream online, and what the team can take out of the match going forward.
We also look back at a busy week of news down Bayview way as Tony McMinn moves on for work reasons and is replaced by the experienced Stephen Frail as assistant manager, and the club add forwards Kyle Connell and Jamie Semple to their squad.
We also take a look around some of the funnier aspects of football from the past week, chat about Scottish clubs overspending and the disaster that is surely waiting to happen, and we're joined by Liam Thomson to talk about his new Ultimate East Fife FC Quiz book.

Monday Aug 02, 2021
Welcome to Episode 51 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
Lee, Michael, and Gordon are joined by Scott Young this week to look at the start of East Fife's league campaign, a 1-1 draw at home to Queens Park. How did they look in their first league outing? Was a home point a good result or a wasted opportunity after going ahead early? Is there enough squad depth to be in anything than a relegation battle this season?
We chat about all the highlights and lowpoints, plus we look at the lack of signings down Bayview way and whether that might be remedied soon and we look at some of the more fun aspects from this past weekend of Scottish football.

Episode 50 - Glory Days of Gold (Season of the Which?)

Sunday Jul 25, 2021
Welcome to Episode 50 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast.
It's our golden anniversary episode and we have a brand new season to preview in it. Wonderful! Or is it?
Just what East Fife are we going to get this season? Preseason saw a lack of any real test, when that came in the League Cup group games, things have not gone well. No wins, no points, only two goals scored, two defeats to teams in a lower league, and a goal difference of minus seven. Optimism is hard to find right now if we're being brutally honest.
Lee, Michael, Doug, and Gordon look at the close season comings and goings, the extension of manager Darren Young, the disappointing League Cup performances, the lack of real difference makers in the team, and their hopes and fears for the season ahead.
Is there any money to strengthen the squad? How many starters are we needing to bring in to compete? Why has Player of the Year Ryan Wallace seemingly quit the club? Are there loan deals on the horizon? Have we been left behind by the rest of the division? Are there any positives we can take right now? So many questions!!!
There's lot of football chat, plus we bring you the latest single from East Fife fan, and friend of the show, PG Ciarletta.

Episode 49 - Glory Days of Gold (The Dream Is Over)
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
Welcome to Episode 49 of Glory Days of Gold. The fourth, and what is now sadly our final, of our Euro 2020 specials.
The dream is over. Scotland returned to a major tournament for the first time in 23 years and it was like we had never left, as they failed to make it out of the group stages again and all the hopes were left lying in tatters following a 3-1 loss to a much better Croatia side, all made even worse by not doing it on home soil at Hampden.
So while there's pride at the performance against England, and some fighting spirit shown in all three games, ultimately we struggled from not having a deadly finisher that could take the chances that were being created. Was that the main difference between qualifying or not or was it Scotland's shape, tactics, and team selections that let them down? How big a loss was Billy Gilmour? And were we just all swept up in the emotional rollercoaster of just being there and simply outplayed?
Kenny Deuchar joins Lee, Doug, and Gordon to look at all of that and more, and ponder what's next for the Scotland national team and who should be the players to try and get us to Qatar next year?

Monday Jun 21, 2021
Welcome to Episode 48 of Glory Days of Gold. The third of our Euro 2020 specials.
After the doom and gloom of Scotland's defeat to the Czech Republic, we're all cock-a-hoop now after an impressive performance, and earning a point, against England at Wembley on Friday. All that said, Scotland have still got to find the back of the net, but their fate lies firmly in their hands going into the last group game on Tuesday.
We're joined again by Dr Goals Kenny Deuchar to pick over the bones of the game and chat about the task ahead, as Croatia stand between Scotland and qualifying for the knockout stage of a major tournament for the first time.
Plus we look ahead to the big game with the Auld Enemy at Wembley on Friday. Are we on a hiding to nothing or can we shock the world? Can we afford to be attack minded or is being defensive our only chance? And who should play in this one? Are the guys optimistic for this one?

Welcome to Episode 46 of Glory Days of Gold. The first of our Euros 2020 specials.
We've come down with a fever, but don't worry, it isn't the dreaded 'rona, it's just Euros fever baby! Scotland's men are back at their first major finals since the 1998 World Cup. Are we all being swept away by the emotion of it all or will it be the same so near, but yet so far from the Scots and the inevitable heartbreak that follows?
However it ends up, we're going to be with you every step of the way and we're being joined for the month by King Kenny himself, Dr Goals, Kenny Deuchar.
In this preview episode, we look ahead to Scotland's chances, pick our best starting XI, and look at the teams in our way. Plus we make some picks for tournament winners, ponder who will be the surprise packages, who will lead the scoring charts, and much more football fun.
Plus we kick off a month of Scotland Euros 2020 football songs with Dundee band The Cundeez as they encourage us to get our kilts on and our taps aff.
