Episode 121 – Glory Days of Gold (A Happy New Year? with special guest Greig McDonald)
Wednesday Jan 03, 2024
Wednesday Jan 03, 2024
We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents!
It's our first show of 2024, so we needed to make it a special one and we have, as we bring you a 90-minute chat with East Fife manager Greig McDonald.
We sit down with Greig to chat about the difficult first half of the season, discuss the current standing of the club, and look ahead to the future. Is he the right man to lead the club forward? Why can't we beat a playoff chasing team? Was the favourites tag unrealistic pressure? Why have the wheels come off?
We chat about all of this and a lot more. Happy New Year!

We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents!
A winning run and East Fife have not been happy bedfellows this season. Every time you hope the team may have turned a corner, you find out they're still in a square. But are they starting to finally show signs of life and a turnaround in fortunes could be on the cards?
Michael, Lee, and Doug are back to chat about the win over Elgin and the loss to Stenhousemuir. Are we only going to be able to beat teams around or below us and if so, how tough will it be to get fans through the turnstiles next year for a lower third side with little to really play for? Sitting 10 points off the playoffs with 21 games remaining, there's still a lot of time to turn that around, but can Greig McDonald do that and what help will he need in the January transfer window to make that happen?
We chat about all of that and say a sad farewell to a couple of East Fife stalwarts who passed away since the last episode. Plus we look at Scotland's draw for next year's Euros in Germany.

Episode 119 – Glory Days of Gold (Time For Things To Change)
Thursday Nov 23, 2023
Thursday Nov 23, 2023
We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents, and for this episode across three countries - Scotland, Spain, and Canada!
Things are looking bleak down Bayview way. East Fife are languishing down the bottom of Scottish League 2, they're out of all the cups, the players look clueless and out of ideas at times in matches, a growing section of supporters want manager Greig McDonald out, and the Board are being questioned by the fanbase about how the club is being run in all aspects off the pitch.
Was the weekend win over Clyde going to be a false dawn that just papered over the cracks or that much awaited turning point to the season? A midweek loss at Bonnyrigg Rose maybe gave us that answer. Things are dire, enthusiasm is waning, and there are major concerns about the direction the club is heading. Things need to change and they need to change fast.
Is a new manager the answer? New players, new tactics, new blood in the boardroom? Is the attempted fan over by the East Fife Supporters Society going to help or hamper any turnaround? Where is the development pathway for our young talent to come through?
Michael, Doug, Gordon, and Aaron are back to chat about all of that and more in the latest episode, and there's a LOT to talk about and get off our chests.

We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
From the high of last week's big victory to the depths of despair at an embarrassing Scottish Cup defeat to a non-league side in one of the worst results in the club's 120 year history. Who'd be an East Fife fan?
How bad was it? How bad are things in general? Can Greig McDonald turn things around or does there need to be a change at the top and maybe even more than that?
The guys discuss this and more in the latest episode, and we're joined by Ian Lowson to pay tribute to lifetime East Fife fan Rab Waddell who passed away last week and bring us the latest news on the East Fife Supporters' Society's attempts to buy the club.

Monday Oct 23, 2023
Monday Oct 23, 2023
We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
East Fife bagged a big 4-0 win over Stranraer on Saturday. The sign of turning the corner or just a very poor visiting side. Probably a bit from Column A and a bit from Column B, but Connor McManus was certainly blowing up a storm with his performance.
There was a lot to be pleased about and with two cup ties against lower league opposition coming up, could the Fife be on the verge of going on something of run?
The guys discuss this and more in the latest episode, and look around the rest of Scottish League 2.

Episode 116 - Glory Days Of Gold (European Adventures)
Tuesday Oct 17, 2023
Tuesday Oct 17, 2023
Apologies that it's been a while, but we're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
Since the last episode East Fife have carved out a few draws in the league and been on a European adventure down to Oswestry to take on TNS in the SPFL Trust Trophy. Is this the turning point for the team's season? Is an uphill trajectory now on the cards? The signs are there, but they have to start really showing it, starting this weekend against Stranraer.
Lee, Doug, Gordon, and Aaron chat about all of that and regale us with tales from their trip to see the champions of Wales. Plus it's full on celebratory mode as Scotland qualify for Euro 2024 in Germany.

Monday Sep 18, 2023
Monday Sep 18, 2023
We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
Since the last episode East Fife have won twice, once in the Challenge Cup and once in the league. Is this an unbeaten run? Or more importantly, is this the turning point in the season after a poor start that has seen the club hit bottom of the division?
The guys chat about those wins against Albion Rovers and Clyde and the main talking points coming out of them, the importance of those victories, and keeping that momentum going now.
Plus there's much excitement for the Fife's foray into Europe next month and would Scotland have beaten England if Steve Clarke had called up Ryan Gauld?!

Episode 114 – Glory Days of Gold (The State That We Are In)
Tuesday Sep 05, 2023
Tuesday Sep 05, 2023
We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
Two months ago hopes were high amongst the Bayview faithful. East Fife were the bookies' favourites to win Scottish League 2. Nathan Austin was the bookies' favourite to be the league's leading scorer. The excitement and anticipation for the year to come was palpable. Then the season started.
Five games into the league campaign, East Fife now find themselves languishing bottom of the table, winless, with the second-highest amount of goals conceded and the joint fewest goals scored. So where has it all gone wrong?
Michael, Lee, Gordon, and Aaron are back to chat about all of that, the season so far, the latest loss to Dumbarton, and what lies in store. Can this weekend's Albion Rovers cup tie be a springboard to a change in fortunes? How concerning is the situation? This is a squad most agree should most certainly be at the other end of the table, so why aren't they? How much does Greig McDonald shoulder the blame for the current plight and how big a loss was Scott Agnew to the coaching staff?
There's a lot to discuss!

East Fife got their first point of the new season, but they made hard work of it and needed a late equaliser to salvage a point at ten man Stranraer.
Michael, Gordon, and Doug chat about the good, the bad, and the ugly coming out of the match and look at some of the other happenings around the already logjammed Scottish League Two.

Episode 112 - Glory Days of Gold (Back With A Bump)
Sunday Aug 06, 2023
Sunday Aug 06, 2023
We're back with the first Glory Days of Gold episode of the new season, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents.
It's been a busy couple of months down Bayview way since our last episode. Players have moved on and new additions have come in to bolster the East Fife ranks, spearheaded by the return of prolific local goalscoring hero Nathan 'Fash' Austin. A fairly decent League Cup campaign. that saw three overall victories and two clean sheets raised hopes for the new league season to come, but Saturday's opening day home loss to Peterhead may have dampened some of those somewhat.
Michael and Gordon chat about all that, look at some of the other happenings around Scottish League Two, delve into the rejection of more Colts teams in Scottish football and what needs to happen in terms of league reconstruction, and talk about some weird penalty shootouts.
